Do you or someone you know have a vision impairment and wish to learn about the different technology out there which allows them to access information?

From accessing the latest smart phones, to using a computer RSBC’s Assistive Technology Officer can help.


These sessions are for anyone aged 10 – 25 who has a vision impairment so whether you are still in school and want to learn more about software and devices to help in the classroom, or you’re looking for work, and need to brush up on the latest technology that will enable you to show employers your full potential in the workplace; please come to these one to one sessions.


Session Time/Dates: 10 – 4pm, 16th February 2019

10 – 4pm, 2nd March 2019

Location:                  RSBC Office, 52-58 Arcola Street, London E8 2DJ.


Topics Covered:

  • Smartphone usage –  including making the phone easier to see, accessing information with assistive apps, and the best navigation apps for traveling and knowing what’s around you.
  • Computers – Learn about Windows/Mac, speech software such as NVDA/VoiceOver and magnification such as Zoom and SuperNova.
  • Reading/writing – from Braille to typing and dictation, improve how you write.
  • Creative media – design your very own website to showcase your work to impress employers. This also covers social media and online presence such as LinkedIn.
  • Lifestyle and games – learn about the accessible apps and devices that will help you live a more active life.


These are the main topics, but sessions are flexible so if you have questions on any other topics they are able to be adapted to your needs.
